Abstract
  • This thesis explores pastoral leadership and the evaluation of the pastor as leader. The research for this project included the reading and synthesis of religious and secular literature in the area of leadership and the author's experience and participation in two leadership evaluation processes. The results of this research reaffirmed that the pastoral role is one of leadership in the congregation. Pastoral leadership is described as stewardship, vision development, and is self-defining. In order to grow, an effective leader needs to be evaluated colleagially and congregationally.
