Abstract

'Lab Results: Ministry with Amazing Grace' is a case study recounting the integration of a young pup into pastoral ministry. An 1800 member congregation in Texas began welcoming puppies-in-training whose lives would eventually be lived as therapeutic animals for persons with handicapping conditions. When the senior pastor became ill, one of the puppies helped her regain spiritual and emotional wellbeing, prompting a desire to investigate the development of a ministry with therapy animals. The project recounts the early experiences of the adventure, while consulting scripture, seeking out tradition, and finding reason to justify such a ministry.
