Abstract
  • The 1969 Roman lectionary is now used widely as a focus for religious education. Assuming that some uses are better than others, the project seeks indices for evaluating materials, personnel and programs related to the lectionary. A form of factor analysis is judged the most appropriate method for discovering the indices. An interpretive perspective is illuminated by a contrast between two distinct theological currents within contemporary Catholicism. The lectionary is situated within one current, as are its appropriate religious education uses. Data gathered in sixty-one interviews are reported and interpreted. Ten clusters of indices result.
