  • The author received radical acts of hospitality in escaping New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina that challenged him to re-define 'hospitality'. He examined biblical texts and early church writings to illustrate hospitality as an experience of grace. The author then raised questions regarding the appropriate personal and social responses to that grace. Because of his Katrina experience, both people and pastor re-learned that hospitality was a necessary practice in the faith community. Together they initiated a new ministry -- a radical act of hospitality -- to an inner city school that became a defining moment for both school and congregation.
