Abstract
  • This project focused on the causes of stress and its effects, if any, on satisfaction in ministry. United Methodist clergy in the Mattoon district and lay persons in the Casey United Methodist Church were surveyed to determine the stress and satisfaction they experience. The target groups apparently were coping well at the time the surveys were administered. A stress management workshop was conducted for the participants. Suggestions of ways to cope with stress were shared. The intent was to increase their awareness of the subtle nature of stress and how it can deprive persons of years and quality of life and prevent one from being effective in ministry.
