Abstract
  • This project discovered the perceptions of race dynamics from an African American perspective at Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio. A five-point Likert scale questionnaire was distributed to 188 people, then collected, collated and analyzed. The major findings were as follows: 1) The seminary fared well in the areas of grading and course offerings; the seminary did not fare well in the perception of racial insensitivity by faculty and administrators to cultural differences, and understanding of cultural differences. 2) Open-ended responses revealed the perception of inferiority by the dominant culture, the need for inclusivity of Black students, and hiring of African Americans.
