Abstract
  • This thesis surveyed Fellowship Baptist churches in Canada which maintain male headship to determine their understanding of and response to the main arguments of evangelical feminism, and prepared a lay study guide on feminism for such churches to use. Survey results indicated considerable support for feminist arguments among respondents under 40 (particularly singles), as well as considerable confusion regarding the major New Testament texts relating to the role of women. The active ministry of gifted women in all areas of church life is advocated except for eldership (the teaching/ruling office of spiritual leader).
