- Abstract
- This project investigates how spiritual disciplines can be taught in Hespeler Evangelical Missionary Church. The study examines perceptions of 15 adults who participated in a 10-week course utilizing two spiritual disciplines, meditation and journal keeping, and describes the perceptions and feelings of a core group of participants toward two spiritual disciplines and their influence on perceptions of spiritual growth, using a qualitative paradigm and an experimental study. Based on a standardized, open-ended interview guide the project conducts pre-test and post-test interviews and written assignments. Two major themes emerge: incentives for practicing spiritual disciplines and hindrances to practicing spiritual disciplines.
