- Abstract
- A foster home in China was the context for this mixed methods research study. The issue was that local churches often fail to adequately respond to the needs of orphans. The Orphan Care Project was developed as an approach to bridge the gap between orphans and Christians. The hypothesis that the project would increase the participants' understanding of orphan care and encourage personal participation resulting in self-reported deeper spiritual experience was proven. Pre and post-project questionnaires, one-on-one interviews, and focus group discussions regarding the participants' clarity of knowledge and attitudes were used for triangulation, analysis, and interpretation of data.
