Abstract
  • This project identifies influences that shape the person and ministry of Samuel Moor Shoemaker (1893-1963) and examines him as a model of and for ministry. The Episcopal Church, the Bible, and the Evangelical movement as mediated by Frank Buchman are the primary influences that form Shoemaker, whose one-on-one model of ministry, a legacy to Alcoholics Anonymous, remains an effective evangelistic and ministerial model worth emulating.
