Abstract
  • Today's youth live in a religiously plural world, but they seldom reflect upon its meaning. This paper is the report of a study using action research involving teenage members of a suburban Chicago church in a survey and small group reflections on their attitudes towards other faiths and their understanding of religious difference. The results show that tolerant views held by these young people owe more to secular expediency than religious commitment. Beliefs are private and rarely shared, even among close friends. The author suggests ways the church may help youth live faithfully in a world of many faiths.
