- Abstract
- The growing Hispanic population in the United States has provided the Catholic Church with a rich variety of customs. Mexicans in particular share their practices with the larger Catholic community. This challenges congregations and preachers as they attempt to minister to this ever growing population. The author begins with an exploration of the current wave of immigration, comparing and contrasting it with past immigration history. Working from the model that says the preacher and the congregation are compañeros, or companions, he then studies select representative practices of Mexicans to help congregations and preachers open their hearts to a rich culture.
