Abstract
  • The ministry project seeks to equip first term missionaries for effective ministry. The project grew out of questioning the policy of political neutrality as required by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention on behalf of its missionaries. Case studies, literary research, and interviews conclude that political neutrality is impossible, unbiblical, and undesirable. A symbolic model for social change was developed. The Foreign Mission Board, as a result of this project, revised its policy on political neutrality. The extensive bibliography on Southern Africa with resource persons wil become part of the orientation program for new missionaries.
