- This dissertation examines the bridge-building components between the deaf and hearing congregations at Forest Hills Baptist Church, Wilson, North Carolina. The project director conducted a literature research exploring the historical, cultural, and theological roots of deaf Americans and the causes of relational distance between deaf and hearing congregants. The project director provided cultural and relational training for selected participants and then volunteers developed relationships with members of the opposite culture. Data collected from a quantitative survey of pre- and post- statements explored relational attitudes concerning personal views within deaf/hearing relationships. Survey results indicated constructive relational training drew congregants together.
