Abstracto

The project tested in two United Methodist churches a consultation process leading to the initiation of prison ministries. The process receives supporting data from 20 churches exhibiting active prison ministries. The report describes the basic outlines of the consultation process and supporting materials. The outlines include an introduction to prison ministry, a means to identify and evaluate mission outreach programs, and the development of a mission outreach profile necessary for the examination of 'points of entry' for prison ministry. The supporting data suggests that churches may experience a higher degree of success when proposed prison ministries correlate with current outreach ministries.
