Abstract
  • The empirically-based story of the universe provides another hermeneutic, a significant context for biblical preaching. The author studied the scientific data supplying the plot and details of the story. She compared and contrasted several contemporary cosmologies. She described several biblical themes supporting a cosmically conscious hermeneutic. After analyzing the needs reported by two focus groups of preachers she developed a series of hermeneutical exercises for the preacher. She described and evaluated a workshop in which participants used these exercises in preparing their preaching. She has edited the exercises for clarity and will continue to offer the workshop.
