Abstract
  • This project studies some of the theological, historical and sociological factors which either support or oppose the development of interchurch cooperation at the local level. Sixteen events which involve nine local churches in Norwich, Connecticut, are designed, enacted and evaluated. Each congregation is associated with one of the denominations active in the Consultation on Church Union. The major problem addressed is how to overcome the apathy and resistance to interchurch cooperation among Protestant churches within a medium-sized metropolitan community. The purpose of the project was to learn ways to foster greater cooperation and unity among local churches through worship, study and action.
