- Abstract
- This project identified four motifs as necessary and sufficient for appraising contemporary Christian worship. These motifs are: (1) Biblical, (2) Catholic (the history and universality of the church), (3) Confessional (Reformed tradition), and (4) Pastoral (the contemporary needs of the people). Included is a teaching resource designed to be used to help worshippers understand the theology and practice of worship, and worship leaders plan and evaluate contemporary worship. Actual worship examples from the contemporary service at First Presbyterian, Mount Holly, NJ, supplement the theological analysis.
