- The purpose of this project was to develop a special-needs ministry strategy for First Baptist Church, Sulligent, Alabama. The project’s initial phase consisted of an internal audit of First Baptist Church and a demographic study of Sulligent, Alabama, to identify needs that existed for people with special needs and their families at First Baptist and in the community. The second phase involved researching existing strategy models of special-needs ministry to determine best practices. In the third phase, I led a strategy team of selected church leaders and experienced members to develop a strategy for a special-needs ministry. Over six strategy sessions, the strategy team used research and studies to develop a proposed strategy for First Baptist to minister to people with special needs and their families at the church and in the community. In the final phase of the project, the strategy development team presented the completed strategy to the congregation of First Baptist Church for approval, which was unanimously accepted.
