Abstract
  • The author researched challenges that are facing the mainline Protestant churches including population changes and the decline of Christianity in the United States. She studied each of the four generations worshipping in churches currently. She shared preaching expectations of each generation as well as challenges facing pastors from each group. Through research and observation, she crafted six sermons in response to generational differences, expectations, and challenges. The results of her sermons are illustrative of the current trends and issues facing congregations in the United States in a postmodern world.
