Abstract
  • Taking time to nurture spirituality often takes a back seat for women. Spiritual neglect leads to increased stress and burnout. This project focuses on ethnically and ecumenically diverse women in Greeneville, TN who report overwhelming personal chaos. Through examination of daily journals and weekly meeting, the spiritual discipline of lectio divina (praying the scriptures) is examined in how it impacts the participants' relationship with God and how praying the scriptures enhances their ability to cope. This research discloses that lectio divina deepens the participants' relationship with God providing them with an understanding of god's grace and solace within their chaos.
