- Abstract
- Bread is life to the poor who must work for it, only to have it taken away. Blood is life to the oppressed who suffer the scourge of war and greed. All kinds of injustice, racism, separation, and lack of freedom are radically challenged when we share in the body and blood of Christ, but do not share our food, our wealth, or our freedom. With fervent prayer, my constant hope is that Christ's church may be one 'so that the world may believe'. The scandal of separation is most keenly felt at the Lord's table. The crucified Christ cries out, urging us to forgive one another and embrace the world.
