Abstract
  • Arguing for a missional dynamic between 'meeting Christ at the table and carrying Him to the streets,' the author surveys a small evangelical, Anglo-Catholic congregation to research whether some twenty-first Episcopalians perceive their encounter with Christ in the eucharist as empowering them for ministry to the poor and needy locally, and whether they believe such outreach is essential to Christian discipleship. This study focuses on Christ's missional discourse in Matthew 25:31-46; the incarnational and eucharistic theology in the Gospel of John; and within the Anglican tradition, the Oxford Movement's theology and practice of sacramental social action.
