Abstract
  • This study evaluating three kinds of approaches made by a missionary-fundraiser for scheduling presentations of missionary projects makes three basic discoveries: the better acquainted the pastor is with the missionary, the more likely he will respond to the missionary's letters; the appeal made to the pastor is different in its psychology than the appeal made to the congregants for the financial response; and, there is a tremendous appeal to the congregants when the representative of a child care program comes prepared with case histories with photos of the children to be sponsored. The project includes surveys given to both pastors and laypeople.
