Abstract
  • This study was designed to examine a method of guiding an African American rural congregation through a period of transitional growth. The context was the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Midway, Kentucky. Two sermons and two workshops were developed to enhance the inclusiveness of new and existing members into the working ministry of the congregation. The learning was supported with scripture and methods of organization for leadership and membership responsibilities. Quantitative survey instruments and qualitative analyses revealed that immobilization was not entirely due to a lack of inclusiveness, but rather an inadequate response to the rapid growth in general.
