- Abstract
- Ministerial training with the Nigerian indigenous churches (independent) is plagued by several problems. These churches, though apparently growing numerically, are spiritually stagnant and encountering crises, particularly with their young educated members. Through interviews with the executive leaders of four of the largest of these churches in Nigeria, and a questionnaire survey of about ten large denominations, this writer has been able to document the problems facing their ministerial training. The result of the research has served as a basis for proposing certain criteria necessary to revamp their ministerial training. This study highlights certain deficiencies in training models used in Nigeria and suggests as a result of the reserach viable alternatives.
