Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to equip a selected group of leaders at First Baptist Church, Wooster, Arkansas, in small group effectiveness. The project director developed a training workshop utilizing input and research from experts in small group ministry. The first phase of the project involved research in effective small group ministry. Various books, articles, and web resources aided research. The second phase included the development of lesson plans for a five-session workshop with evaluation forms, tests, PowerPoint, and homework assignments. The five sessions covered clarifying the need of small groups, understanding small group dynamics, developing leaders, ministry multiplication, and insight into leading effective small groups. The final phase of the project involved the implementation of the workshop sessions and assignments. The project director equipped 15 selected leaders of First Baptist Church in essential truths of small group effectiveness. The workshop occurred on two consecutive weekends with the first four sessions occurring on Saturday and the final session occurring Sunday of the second weekend.
