Abstract
  • Preaching is best understood as worship: proclaiming and catalyzing response to God-centered, properly executed Biblical exposition. This project builds on the work of John Piper, which connects preaching to worship, understanding preaching as 'expository exultation.' The project provides a biblical justification for this connection, establishes a set of hermeneutical values for building God-centered sermons, and describes a model for producing messages based on those values. The project includes a summary of two surveys of preachers, and the author's interview with Piper. The project also provides eighteen sermon outlines from various biblical texts as examples of the method.
