Abstract
  • The thesis of this project proposes that a district superintendent in the United Methodist Church can contribute to the growth of healthy, disciple-making churches by giving increased attention to five churches for a period of one year. Five churches were chosen, pastors of these churches became a part of a study group, mentors were assigned to each church, mentors became a part of a district vitalization team. The author concluded that this method is an effective way to use the superintendent's time if there is buy-in to the process by the churches, if the pastor is a good match for the church, and if churches chosen have growth potential.
