Abstract
  • This project engages the officers and teachers of an African American Baptist congregation in learning and using an empowering and transforming Bible study method. In six sessions and a workshop over a period of eight months, participants focus on the text by praying and centering, and then, as the Spirit moves, they raise questions and enter dialogue. At this point the text seems to explode. This transforming Bible study method offers great possibilities for participants to transform and be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Rom 12:1-2). This transformation is a continuing process, and it takes a renewed mind to accomplish it.
