Abstract
  • This project explores the transfer of leadership in a multigenerational congregation. Younger generations will need to fill the inevitable void in congregational leadership that comes with time. To affect the transfer of leadership from one generation to another, the current leaders need to be prepared to share the leadership with people who see the world differently. The researcher conducted a congregational survey and analyzed responses from two focus group interviews. This project assessed how a leadership retreat and an adult education seminar affected the participants' attitudes and behaviors regarding the transfer of leadership to younger generations. On the basis of this study the researcher offers recommendations that pastors and congregational leaders may find helpful as they face the inevitable transfer of leadership to younger generations.
