Abstract
  • This dissertation describes and evaluates the mandate to the ten-member Canon Universalist Church that it die as a viable religious organization. A caveat required this be accomplished with dignity. The church was disconnected from its Christian heritage. Canon's minister developed a medical ministry model. The minister became physician and the congregation patient. Preaching and pastoral care were used to recover the heritage and restore a sense of dignity. The congregation accepted the ministry and responded with a special day of celebration recovering their heritage.
