Abstrait

By applying biblical, historical and theological contexts for understanding the meaning of confirmation, this project proposes that Christian initiation is vital for the formation of disciples. The practice of confirmation in a local church provided the setting for the project, conducted over a 13-week period with persons between adolescence and adulthood. Confirmation preparation helped to identify principles that can be meaningful in the practice of confirmation, specifically the relationship of confirmation to baptism; how confirmation empowers a person to continue to live in covenant relationship with Jesus Christ and the church; and the value of mentoring in confirmation ministry.
