Abstract
  • The purpose of this thesis is to explore the effect of an intergenerational decision-making small group on the confirmand's attitudes toward church. The author conducts interview testing to discover if attitude shifts occur as a result of the subcommittee's work. He surveys 62 congregations about their confirmation practices. The author concludes that the subcommittee does have a positive effect, that an inverse relationship exists between trust level and age-group segregation in intergenerational small groups, and that a direct relationship exists between confirmand continuance and the degree of confirmand involvement in the ministry.
