  • This project develops a congregation-wide application of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator within a rural West Virginia Disciples of Christ congregation of 75 active persons. It is intended to facilitate: 1. the identification and affirmation of personal values and strengths, and 2. the development of one particular resource which will inform intentional church planting. The study reviews both Jungian typology, upon which the MBTI is based, and the instrument itself. Application of type awareness is related to the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of sermons. Recommendations are offered for other congregational applications of the MBTI.
