Abstract
  • The Episcopal Diocese of Albany faced a problem (an opportunity): how to design a model of diaconal formation that would train deacons both for small congregational leadership and for more historical and traditional diaconal roles, such as their liturgical function and social service and witness. The diocese is largely rural and has a widely dispersed population, though there are some urban centers. The authors sought to create a suitable curriculllum for this context, and submitted this to subsequent implementation and assessment.
