Abstract
  • This thesis involved developing a model of pastoral preaching that would effectively speak to a military chapel community facing the problem of separation. A diagnosis of the problem was given from psychological, emotional, theological, and biblical perspectives. A theology and methodology was presented showing why that issue was a focus for an act of ministry. A sermon series was presented dealing with the themes of abandonment, lostness, and hope. Evaluation was done by a peer group using written-response questionnaires and by the chapel community using scale-type questionnaires. As a result a model was developed that is effective and relevant for a variety of pastoral issues.
