Abstract
  • The project dealt with nurturing self-esteem among female Korean university students. This was done through the processes of developing, teaching, and evaluating a nine-session course of study. General information and self-esteem questionnaires were used with a study group and a control group. Shamanism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Christianity, as well as changes in a woman's position from the Shilla, Koryo, and Yi Dynasties, were factors which influenced self-esteem in a hierarchical, patriarchal society. Significant changes were seen in gender preference, forgiveness, decision-making, liking self, and parental relationships.
