Abstract
  • Supervision is important in the preordination education of clergy in the Uniting Church in Australia. Supervision facilitates the integration of academic and experiential learning. The historic and contemporary use of supervision as a modality in ministerial, social work, and teacher education was examined. Experienced ministers and recent ministerial graduates were interviewed regarding their experiences of being supervised during preordination education. As a result the supervisors training program was upgraded to place greater stress on reflective practice and the use of supervision for the formation of ministers.
