Abstract

The development of theological education programs for the training of indigenous leadership of The United Methodist Church in eastern and central Europe requires a new partnership between the central conferences, the general boards and agencies of the church, and the United Methodist theological schools in America. The author of this project thesis reviewed the development of theological education in Methodism and the contemporary debates on theological pedagogy; he interviewed the deans and presidents of United Methodist theological schools; and he developed a strategy for the technical assistance and support of theological programs in eastern and central Europe.
