Abstract
  • This project seeks unity and healing of congregational discord in Southside Baptist Church through preparing a congregational mission statement in small groups. The project administers a Congregational Systems Inventory and facilitates discussion about church dynamics. On the basis of that discussion church leaders divide into small groups to compose mission statements defining the mission and purpose of the congregation, and the larger group then reconciles the work done in the small groups to produce a common statement. The process produces measurable growth in understanding and communication among congregational leaders.
