- A need for a new paradigm for ministry to women who have experienced violence and abuse is argued. The formation of the person's understanding of self is discussed using Jessica Benjamin's Bonds of Love. The connection between the prevailing theological anthropology and its interpretation in the church's history which has maintained suppression and domination of women is traced. A new theological paradigm is presented using Alistair McFadyen's The Call to Personhood, James N Poling's The Abuse of Power, and Elizabeth A Johnson in She Who Is. The implications of an alternative paradigm for ministry is discussed.
