  • The work criticizes the limits of Rational-Emotive Therapy in dealing with unhappy people to persuade them to think well of themselves. After an in-depth analysis of RET, the study examines the difference between a scientific and a theological methodology and reviews the theological method of Bernard Lonergan. Building upon Lonergan's thesis that a person needs to accept the responsibility to transform him/herself, his/her worlds, and his/her meanings, the dissertation examines a Pauline anthropology to consider the possibilities to equip persons with cognitive insights so that they might be able to do so. In a book designed for publication and distribution to clients in the counseling process, the structure of RET is adapted by bringing the perspectives of the Christian religion into the therapeutic process.
