- Abstract
- In this project a marital enhancement workshop was used in a large, urban congregation to heighten awareness of five irrational beliefs, identified by Albert Ellis, that have a negative impact on marriage. A pre-test questionnaire measured levels of marital satisfaction and the endorsement of irrational beliefs and offered rational alternatives to these beliefs to determine the impact of the workshop. Individuals with high levels of marital satisfaction showed greater drops in the post-test scores and were more open to examining their beliefs about marriage.
