Abstract
  • Repeatable reaffirmation of one's baptismal vows is now an option in the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. In the wake of a weakening rite of confirmation, it promises a more mature encounter with the essence of baptism. 'Living Into Our Baptism,' developed by Hughes and Westerhoff, is evaluated through participant interviews as an in-depth preparatory process leading to baptismal reaffirmation. Strong on formational and educational aspects, LIOB, in this study, nonetheless struggles with the corporate aspects of church life and fails to show strong evidence that the reaffirming baptizee has firm congregational and diocesan support.
