  • This dissertation demonstrated that hortatory subjunctives are critical to expository preaching of the Book of Hebrews. The author researched the exegetical clues within Hebrews to determine whether or not these influence the communication in preaching. He examined the author of Hebrews' words of encouragement compared to words of warning. He concluded that there is a philosophy of preaching within Hebrews that can be modeled by contemporary preachers. The goal was to make preachers aware of the exegetical demands within the study of Hebrews, demands that compel the preacher to call for life changes on the part of his listeners.
