Abstract
  • This project created a sermon preparation system that included lay parishioners available within a church to increase the quality and ease of sermon preparation through collaboration. Four small groups produced a custom-made lectionary, collected related reference materials, and provided the pastor with weekly exegetical and presentation ideas, supporting materials, and feedback on proposed sermons. The pastor's increase in satisfaction and reduction in frustration with the overall sermon preparation process indicated positive change. This supported the hypothesis that parishioners could be organized into a system to successfully provide quality input and continuous feedback into the sermon preparation process.
