  • This is a study of the relationship between SIM International, an expatriate missionary society and the Evangelical Missionary Society (EMS), the indigenous missionary arm of Nigeria's Evangelical Churches of West Africa (ECWA). The two missions are examined form both an historical and a pragmatic perspective. The purpose of the study is to pinpoint the salient principles that have gone into the development of SIM and EMS and to see what can be done to enhance the missionary outreach of both organizations. The symbiosis between the two societies is evident in the achievement of the basic goals of outreach to the Hausa people of Nigeria. Appendices include valuable resource material including a transcript of an extended interview between the author and Rev Panya Baba, general secretary of EMS.
