- Abstract
- The Mission Right-Way Movement, advocated by Inter-Mission International, the oldest non-denominational faith mission agency in Korea, has inspired the writer to ascertain the current state of the mission policies of the Korean church. By so doing he aims a proposing a new paradigm for mission policies. Focusing on the Korean Presbyterian Church, the primary objectives were : 1) to shed new light on the historical roots of world missions in the Korean church and weigh the biblical and theological basis of missions in the Korean church; 2) to compare various mission policies of denominational mission boards and agencies, then propose new policy directions; 3) to set the future task of the Korean missions as a 'peace mission' building a unified national church in preparation for the ultimate unification of the two Koreas; 4) to submit a new mission policy paradigm for the Korean church in the 21st century and prepare for shifts in world affairs. These should lead to a more accurate assessment of the current state of Korean missions and to propose practical solutions for minimizing its weakness as well as maximizing its strengths.
