  • The thesis of this project is that mateship is a valid and acceptable model for the pastoral care of Australian pastors. The research involves pastors of the Parramatta/Nepean Presbytery. Methods include personal and group discussion and questionnaires. The results indicate that pastors are in need of pastoral care and that mateship is an acceptable model for such care. The project establishes support groups from which pastors are able to choose mates for mutual pastoral care. It confirms that mateship is a valid model for pastoral care of pastors and justifies the promotion of mateship along with other models.
